Crochet Yarn Basket, with a pocket!

I have been storing all my yarn on a spare shelf in my room, but it tends to spread out . . .  a lot. I needed are more compact way to store it, so I thought a basket would be a great idea! I could have bought one and fixed my problem right away, but why do that when I could buy MORE yarn to clutter my shelf and crochet myself a basket? So I did.

I also crocheted an inside pocket, which I sectioned off for my hooks, scissors, needles and stitch markers (the latter two in their own little containers too so they don't go missing). Now all my crochet things are tidily stored in one space!

The basket is 28cm/11inches wide and 18.5cm/7.25inches high. The inner pocket is 20cm/8inches wide and 13 cm/5inches high.

Materials:

Yarn: Chunky yarn, approx. 500g/8.8oz or 250m/272yards. I used Hobbi Ribbon yarn, 2 skeins

Hook: 5.5 mm

Needle

Abbreviations (US Terms):

ch = chain

hdc = half double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

st = stitch

inc = two hdc in same st

dec = half double crochet two together

blo = back loop only

mc = magic circle

Notes:

- ch does not count as a st throughout pattern.

- (..) at the end of the row indicates the number of stitches in the row

- back loop refers to the loop furthest away from you. See image below.

- Gauge: 10 hdc x 7 rows = 10x10cm or 4x4inches

- Repeat instructions within ** the number of times indicated after the second *

The Pattern:

We are starting with the main part of the basket; this is worked in rounds, starting with a magic ring/circle.
